Malaysia will celebrate its 66th National Day on 16 September. Every year on 16 September the Malaysia Day or Hari Merdeka is celebrated. On this occasion, Google Doodle is also ready to celebrate Hari Merdeka.
History
Dating back to history, on this particular day in 1957 the Federation of Malaya that is Malaysia’s predecessor announced independence. Thus, Malaysia gained its freedom and independence from the long and brutal rule of British colonials.
Then more than 20,000 Malaysian citizens gathered to watch the government officials raise the flag of Malaysia together and also hear the national anthem. The then-first Prime Minister of Malaysia shouted seven times the word, “Merdeka.” In Malay, “Merdeka” means “free.”

Malaysia celebrates 31 August as a public holiday. However, the Merdeka celebrations go on throughout the month until 16 September, when it celebrates Malaysia Day. On this day Malaysia celebrates various festivities. At Merdeka Square, all sorts are events are commenced where parade participants assemble in traditional attire and adorned vehicles.
Their events portray different types of cultural performances from all corners of the country. People also sing patriotic songs including “Satu Malaysia” and “Tanggal 31.”
Additionally, schoolchildren participate in various performances organized by their school. Various athletic events, singing competitions, and photography exhibitions are also conducted on this special occasion. The entire country especially the capital is adorned with Malaysia’s flag and patriotic embellishments. The vehicles, residences, government buildings are also embellished.
