The lead singer of Smash Mouth, he faced various health issues. The main cause of his death was acute liver failure. His condition worsened due to a longstanding struggle with alcoholism. Acute liver failure cost him his life and ultimately led to his death. Moreover, Steve Harwell also struggled with a neurological disorder that affected his memory and speech, called Wernicke encephalopathy, and a heart ailment known as cardiomyopathy.
Throughout his lifetime, he struggled with a series of personal difficulties and health obstacles. Thus, on 4 September 2023, Monday he breathed his last.
