Born in Kansas in 1939, Terry Kirkman was raised in Chino, California. He along with his friend Jules Gary Alexander started a band, “Inner Tubes”. The group gained popularity and eventually featured greats like Cass Elliott and David Crosby.

Partnering with Alexander, Russ Giguere, Ted Bluechel Jr., Brian Cole, and Bob Page, Terry Kirkman formed the folk-rock outfit the Association. The group also performed at the famed iconic Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and was the first group to play that weekend.
